What's been your most rewarding project(s) while at your firm?
In my soon to be, twelve years at Henderson I’ve been involved in probably forty or fifty sports projects -- everything from a locker room renovation to a ground up, NFL stadium.
My most memorable project though is probably Heinz Field South Plaza Project because it was the first sports project I was the primary lead on and I later transitioned into the project manager. I learned a lot through the role, including how to deal with tough situations when they always arise which they often do on projects of that size but we always remained focused on the client and delivering for them. I'm proud that our primary contact on the project at Populous remains a client today and so do the Steelers.
Most interesting place you've traveled for work?
I would say going to I would say that going to the Gillette Stadium (one of our projects) for the home opener of the Patriots against the Chiefs in 2017. We opened up the upper concourse quad bar renovation along with the Union Point patio. We watched the new Super Bowl Champion banner unveiled for a valued client, which we assisted on the new lighting along with watching our hometown team.
What inspires you about your profession?
I’m a die-hard sports fan to the core so working on sports projects like I do is about as ideal of a job as I can get. Over my career, I've worked in iconic spaces like the University of Oklahoma south end zone, the University of Oregon Mathew Knight Arena, and The Star in Frisco, which is the headquarters for the Dallas Cowboys. Right now, I'm the lead mechanical engineers on the new LA Stadium & Entertainment District, which will be the future home of the Rams and Chargers and the project manager for the Performance Venue at LA Stadium and the new University of Texas Arena. At the end of the day, I take a lot of pride in what I do and work hard to try to serve the staff who will ultimately use the spaces we help create and the client.
